Staff Management

Staff management lets you promote and demote members through Oxy instead of editing Discord roles by hand. The point is a consistent role set plus an audit log that identifies the responsible user.

Staff roles and additional roles

In /settings → Staff, choose which Discord roles represent staff ranks. Additional roles are extra roles granted or removed alongside a rank — for example a shared staff colour role. Oxy can only assign roles below its own highest role.

Promotions

Run /promote on a member. Oxy applies the configured promotion path: the destination staff role and any additional roles. If the command is refused, check that you are allowed to promote, that the target is eligible, and that the bot role is high enough.

Demotions

Run /demote to move a member down or out of the staff path. Demotion should remove the staff role and any additional roles that were tied to that rank, according to your configuration.

Permission configuration

Limit /promote and /demote to a small set of roles. A member who can promote without restriction can usually grant themselves access. Pair Discord’s role hierarchy with Oxy’s command permission so both have to agree.

Staff audit logs

When action logging is enabled, promotions and demotions write to the staff or shared log. The log should identify the responsible user — the person who ran the command — along with the target and the resulting rank. It does not need to mention uninvolved members.

Example configuration walkthrough

1. 01

   Create Discord roles first

   Create the rank roles you actually use, plus any additional roles (for example a staff-only role that gates channels). Place them below Oxy’s bot role.

2. 02

   Open /settings → Staff

   Map those Discord roles into Oxy’s staff configuration. Add additional roles only if they should follow promotions and demotions.

3. 03

   Choose who may act

   Restrict /promote and /demote to senior staff. Confirm the restriction with a second account if you can.

4. 04

   Set the audit log channel

   Pick a staff-only channel. Run a test promotion on a willing member, then demote them back, and confirm the log names the responsible user.
